My students need 12 books of poetry of various types for inspiration.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Legg's classroom raised $182
This project is fully funded
Can you imagine discussing poetry the first week of school in a sixth grade classroom and not one student could name a single poem or poet? I want to broaden their literature horizons beyond their small rural communities.
Many students come from homes where the adults in their lives do not read literature, especially poetry. When I showed them a couple examples they were really inspired to try to put their feelings down on paper. I was really impressed by their first attempts but they could do so much better if they were exposed to much more good poetry.
With 12 new poetry books at their fingertips as inspiration my students will be able to expand their horizons beyond their rural surroundings. They can gain confidence in their own feelings and language.
You will make it possible for my students to visit the world in poetry. I hope to enter my students in a local poetry contest to gain added confidence to their literary backgrounds.
