This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students from this school come from around the local area. We are located by the Port of LA. I seek to spark the love of learning to the students in our learning community.
I am a first-grade teacher to a wonderful group of students who enjoy building on their knowledge throughout the year using hands-on activities and collaborating with their classmates.
Throughout our 1st- grade learning adventure, students grow in confidence and creativity.
As a teacher, I want to provide students with a memorable learning experience that they will cherish and encourage them to seek more learning experiences.
My Project
Some students struggle to organize their needed materials in class. The chair pockets, sheet protectors, and dry erase pockets will provide my learners with a place to organize learning tools they can use to increase their academic success in our classroom.
Help my students build independence and confidence in the classroom by giving them easier access to their daily learning tools.
The chair pockets will hold their daily folders for writing, word study, and morning work. It will also hold their "Just Right" book bag with books they read throughout the day. The sheet protectors will be placed in their folders. These will hold "Kid Friendly" charts that give them reminders and resources they can use to assist them (sight word chart, sound-spelling chart, etc.). The dry erase pockets will allow me to put in certain graphic organizers, math tools (place value chart, number lines, etc.) to increase their understanding of the ways learners use them.
