My Project
My students love to hold book buddies during story time so they can listen to the story, or when they get a chance to read their newly selected library book.
Book buddies will be plush animals that my newcomer students will be able to read to.
Being able to read to the stuffed animals will increase vocabulary, improve reading skills, develop reading comprehension skills, sharpen intonation skills, and advance communication skills. The reading buddies will promote more engagement in reading. These stuffed animals are characters from the books they are reading, this will make reading exciting and fun for my students! This will also foster their creativity and imagination. If allowed to use their imagination and be creative students are more likely to stay focused and engaged in learning, thus improving their reading skills.
