Plugged Into Learning: STEM Laptops for Young Role Models

Help me give my students four laptops so my 3rd–5th grade boys in the 5000 Role Models of Excellence program can explore coding, math, science, and digital literacy—keeping them Plugged Into Learning and Wired for Greatness!

My Project

At Barbara Hawkins Elementary, our young men in the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Program are learning that leadership, discipline, and education go hand-in-hand. These 3rd–5th graders are eager to explore science, technology, engineering, and math, but often lack access to the technology that can truly bring these lessons to life.

Our boys show up each week in their shirts and ties, ready to grow into future leaders, and deserve the chance to engage with hands-on learning tools that prepare them for tomorrow.

We are requesting 4 HP 14" Touchscreen Laptops (Intel Dual-Core N4020, 16GB RAM, 192GB storage, webcam, Office 365, and accessories in blue).

These laptops will be used to:

Practice coding, robotics, and STEM simulations.

Conduct research for projects and presentations.

Collaborate in groups, building teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Strengthen writing, math, and critical-thinking through interactive learning.

With these touchscreen laptops, our students will:

Explore STEM learning apps and virtual labs.

Participate in online competitions and STEM challenges.

Use technology to document their progress, create digital journals, and present projects with pride.

These laptops will also support after-school mentorship sessions where role models from the community guide our boys in leadership, responsibility, and excellence.
