My Project
My students love to read picture books as a way to focus on our basic to most important reading skills. We are hoping that this year we can participate in a mock Caldecott Award project. My class will be asked to analyze high quality picture books and persuade others in our grade and school to vote for their choice.
Reading quality picture books will hopefully fill students with joy and create a life long love of reading. Reading a variety of books opens up new worlds to children who might never have these opportunities otherwise. This project is a wonderful opportunity to combine reading and provide numerous and varied writing opportunities.
