This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A classroom without supplies for students and teachers is not a classroom at all.

My sixth grade students attend a public school that is located in one of the poorest congressional district in New York.

Approximately 98% of of them receive free lunches. Most of them come to school without supplies, and teachers have to supplement what these students need from out of pocket. Now my pockets are running on empty.

My Project

The composition notebooks will be used as reader's and writer's notebooks. We need copy paper because my students have technology goals to published typed essays for each writing genre and to make copies of assessments. Without access to copy paper at school, this will not be feasible. The pencils and pens are used to reward and promote students' good behavior. Chart papers and markers are needed to make reference charts. Filler papers are needed for writing essays using the writing process.

This project is important because, due to budget cuts and the fact that most of my students cannot afford these supplies, I need help to supplement what they need in order to be successful learners.

These supplies for my classroom will enhance the learning of all students. We appreciate the little things that we can get.
