This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What? No paper or pencils?? How can my class be productive without these essential items? I can't keep paying for them!

I teach second grade in a Title 1 school in Texas.

Most of my students come from a very low socio-economic household and did not bring school supplies with them to start out the school year. With budget cuts, our school doesn't have the necessary supplies just laying around either. I have purchased these things myself for the students in need until now, but I can't continue that. I've politely asked parents to bring what they can, but it proves to be too difficult for many of them.

My Project

We are in need of a few basic things, but they are necessary in the classroom! Paper and pencils, which is a must for all subject areas, and copy paper so that I can provide them with some rich additions to the curriculum. Without this resource, my students will have to go without certain activities that would otherwise enrich their learning.

I care so much for each of my students.

Many of them come from troubled home situations. I want to provide them with everything they need and then some. Paper and pencils should be the least that these children deserve in the classroom. Thank you for considering my proposal.
