Today's learner is a hands-on, do-two-things-at-once, give me information now type of learner. Students don't typically get excited to curl up with a book. But when offered an iPad and a challenge they literally hustle to get started.
The students at our school love school.
They love learning and demonstrating their knowledge and skills through the arts and technology.
Our school is based on the belief that we are all learners for life. Visual and media literacy skills will permeate all subjects at the elementary school. Reflective teaching and learning will be expected in every classroom with an emphasis on building a community of learners to be thinkers and creators, and who are preparing for college or professional careers. At the same time the school will prepare students to be participating members of a democratic society by engaging them as stakeholders in their education. The spirit of intellectual curiosity is encouraged in and through the arts.
My Project
With iPads on hand at all times, my students will be able to participate in peer editing of their essays. Additionally, a group of students can work on one iPad, mapping out their ideas and sharing strategies in math.
We were so lucky to have received 5 iPads for our classroom. Now, we are in need of 5 iPad cases to keep these wonderful learning tools safe.
iPads have a positive impact on learning by giving students an authentic way to show their thinking and share strategies/give feedback to each other.
It is important that we take care of these iPads so students can use them for years to come.
