This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year my school wants to do something special to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. I want my students to have a selection of books that they can read and enter another world.

My students are very special.

They either live in shelters or come from broken homes. One hundred percent of my students get free lunch and most come into school early for the free breakfast program. Since money is very scarce at their homes many of the children don't have books to read at home.

My Project

My students will be allowed to take these books home at night and read them to their parents. The funny stories will get them motivated to read more. These books, hats, and pencils will be used and given to all the students in grades kindergarten to second. These materials will have a very positive affect on many young lives.

This project will make such a difference because the children will look forward to independent reading time knowing that they will have a greater book choice.

They will also be looking forward to Dr. Seuss's birthday because they will have materials to help celebrate it. They will also be able to write about what they read with their new Dr. Seuss pencil. Without this grant I am not sure that we could celebrate his birthday in such a great way.
