This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Although their circumstances may not be the best, my students come into school everyday eager to learn. I teach second grade in Paterson, NJ. Our school is located in an urban community, riddled with poverty and crime. My classroom consists of 15 general education students and 8 English language learners. My English language learners come from multiple different countries and a total of 3 languages are spoken within our classroom. When my students walk through our classroom doors, they know they are safe, loved and about to have fun learning!

My Project

We have gone without a working printer in our classroom for some time now. Due to the fact that my students live in poverty, they do not have access to a printer at home. It is vital to their learning, that they have the ability to print resources and their work out. In our classroom, we will use the printer to enhance our lessons and to give students printed access to materials and their work. As a teacher, having a printer in my classroom is essential to the planning of my lessons. Valuable planning time is often wasted waiting on line at the school copy machine, which is often broken.
