My Students
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Many have never cared for a live animal. This spring I would love for them to see eggs hatching and to experience caring for a Rhode Island Red chick in May and June. This particular incubator is perfect for us! Would you help us please?
My students are the best!
I am so proud of them. They are respectful, full of fun, inquisitive, and eager to learn. Our school has a very high percentage of free and reduced lunches, but my students are motivated to do their best. I am very strict, and they rise to our expectations of honor, integrity, compassion, and kindness. They work hard, do their homework, and I dearly love them. It is a joy to come to school each day to learn alongside them. They are most deserving, and I hope you will consider helping us.
My Project
An egg incubator allows students to visually experience the miracle of life. I teach two classes of 3rd grade students in science. It's a dual language school, and I speak in English and Spanish. Three years ago I purchased 25 chicks through the mail. I brought them to school and my students kept them in a heated box built by one of the parents. All my students thoroughly enjoyed caring for the fragile chicks. Word spread and soon the classroom was filled with inquisitive students from other classes during recesses and after school. It was a particular joy for me to witness students who had learning disabilities, behavior issues, and social problems melt into caring, loving protectors of the chicks! I would be thrilled to augment my science lessons by providing our students with the opportunity to see the entire miracle of life by researching, learning, and then seeing eggs hatch.
