As some of you know, I started working as a 5th grade teacher in an urban school district, which is something I have always wanted to do. I have some students that can not even read yet. I am encouraging reading at home and even using a parent log to make sure they read outside of school, I even count it as a grade. When starting this assignment, I discovered that some of my students did not have any books at their home, so I gave some from my personal library at school. I now need to rebuild our school library and I am asking for help in doing so. I want so badly to help these wonderful kids. So with that being said, I am asking my friends and family to help me and my students. If you can help it would be very much appreciated. Thank you for any help you can give these kids, they are a terrific group and I would love so much to help them succeed.
My Project
These books will help all students in my classroom. I have students who can not read at all to those that read at a 3rd grade level. These books will allow them to read at their level successfully and give them confidence in their reading abilities, which will allow them to gain in their ready level and become ready for the next grade. Reading is so important in life and is used everyday. Without the proper literacy skills I fear my students will have many struggles along the way. I do not want to see this happen to great kids!
