Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a Title I school in Brooklyn, NY, which is facing budgetary constraints. Many of my 6th grade students have learning disabilities and/or deficits, and I want to help them go from struggling to thriving!
Despite the fact that a large percentage of my students come from low-income households and face a variety of challenges both personal and academic, they still come to school every day, hoping to reach their goals.
They are inspiring and deserve all the support we can give them.
My Project
In my ELA classroom, one thing we take very seriously is writing! Students draft, edit, revise, and draft again, all the while improving their writing skills. When my students finish their final drafts, we want to print them out and display them for the whole school to see. We also need to have copies for students' yearly English Language Arts portfolios.
The students need to print their writing, but the problem is, we do not have a printer available to us.
Many students do not have this technology at home either, and ink is so expensive!
Please help us acquire a classroom printer with a service plan and ink, so that my amazing students may print and showcase their beautiful work this year, and for years to come!
