Please Help My Remote Students Get Hands-On Materials to Learn!
Help me give my students dry erase lap boards, ink cartridges, flashlights, and more they need to learn remotely in a hands on and developmentally appropriate way.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with 20 wonderful and inquisitive pre-kindergarten students in a very diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. We have children from many different cultures in our class and children with many special abilities.
Our preK students love to learn new things daily!
For many of these children, it is their first year in school. They are learning about themselves, others, school rules, routines, and many new concepts in various subjects! They have many opportunities to explore what kind of learners they are and learn concepts in many different ways!
My Project
Remote learning is tough for both teachers and students. One of the biggest obstacles is every child not having the supplies or learning materials they need to make learning fun and engaging.
My young students need learning materials and supplies to learn remotely with!
I want to create bags filled with things they need like basic supplies and hands-on materials so they can have what they need to learn through our upcoming units of study. I will create the bags and make sure each child gets one. The bags will include basic school supplies such as a white board, dry erase marker, eraser, folder, journal, watercolor paints, pencils, pencil bags, multicultural crayons, child sized scissors, etc. The bags will also include hands on learning materials for our upcoming learning themes (Light and Plants) such as flashlights, diffraction glasses, stain glass art, lanterns, soil, pots, rulers (to measure plants), etc. I have also included ink so I can print up materials for the children.
