Please Help My Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners
My students need 9 multicultural books that include Cesar Chavez, George Washington Carver, Harriet Tubman, & Jackie Robinson, along with 2 iPad mini tablets.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color." Maya Angelou once said and I agree. Please help my class promote civil rights, diversity and multiculturalism.
I work with a large culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners.
I work with students with autism, students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and students who may benefit from small group interventions. Close to 90% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch and about 60% of our students are English Language Learners.
My Project
The two iPad mini tablets will be used to access our ebooks. The ebooks will allow my struggling readers to listen to the stories. My struggling readers will be able to take charge of their interaction with these multicultural books, tapping on words to hear them read aloud, choosing what books that they want to read, and reading independently. The multicultural e-books will help my students gain pride in themselves and increase understanding of others as they listen to and read this collection of stories. My students will learn and expand their knowledge while reading about Amelia Earhart, Cesar Chavez, George Washington Carver, Eleanor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King Jr., Sojourner Truth, and Wilma Rudolph.
Please help my students by contributing to a set of multicultural books.
These resources will help my students learn and appreciate different cultures during Black History Month and Hispanic Heritage Month. It will help my students develop and promote diversity and multiculturalism while helping them become lifelong readers.
