Hello Everyone, I work as a school social worker and next year I will be working with exclusively center based students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I will have students from pre-k through 5th grade on my caseload so I wanted to find items that can be adaptable and beneficial for all my students.
The school day can be overwhelming and over stimulating for students, and my intention is for my new office to be completely sensory friendly and welcoming for the specific needs of students.
I work in a Title I district, and being new in my social work career I am still working to set up everything I need to best support my students. They really are an amazing group of students, they deserve the absolute best supports I can provide! I am asking for a sensory tent for a designated calming corner. The florescent light covers will reduce harsh lighting and the requested lights will be able to create a soothing atmosphere where students can decompress. The sensory brush, massager, Breathing Plus kit, and Weighted Stuffed Animal will be available to help students learn to manage their emotions.
