Help me give my students supplies to continue our D&D club for alt high school that doesn’t receive funds for clubs. Our graduated members created a HUGE club but brought their own supplies. We can’t continue without you
Our school is an alternative high school with very little funding for essentials and NO FUNDING for our clubs. Anything helps, all items are going straight to the club.
Our founding members have graduated and they were the ones who brought their own supplies.
The kids are low-income and things like clothes are hard to buy let alone the means to learn and play this AMAZING game. It’s tough to get high school students so excited to learn. The research connecting D&D to enhanced general learning is strong & clear.
We must continue this club, it’s essential for our kids to connect with each other on a social level. As well as gain and strengthen Math, Science, Reasoning, Reading and Writing skills. D&D lets them play out scenarios that they follow all the way through with choices they make along the way. Seeing in real time consequences of choices.
These kids REALLY need this club. It’s helping them so much. They enthusiastically embraced D&D. Obviously when the students get enthusiastic and attend in such high numbers week after week, it’s neglectful not to do everything we can to fund and support them. D&D club has skyrocketed to include almost 50 percent of our student population.
We are a safe place for students who feel rejected and uncomfortable in a traditional high school. This club has given them positive social time, relearning how to bond with each other, face to face tech free interaction, and strengthening their core classroom skills. Teachers have noticed the usually quiet students gaining more skills in core classes as well as speaking up and participating in class!
