it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello, I'm a six grade teacher of all subjects in a school in the Bronx. Our school is located in a low socio-economic neighborhood.
In my class of 25 students, there are 2 students that are reading at grade level. the students are grouped at a range of levels beginning with first grade. As you might imagine, reading instruction is very frustrating for both the students and myself. In ours, as in many other schools, we use a leveled library system. The children are able to choose their own books to read. They are constantly asking me when are we getting new books. At the beginning of the school year, we received some books, but the majority of the books are to high for the children's reading level.
We need books that are at their reading levels and that they can comprehend. The books that we want are from scholastic. They can be purchased at the Scholastic teacher store or from their book club. Please take my proposal into consideration and find it in your heart to fund it. Your support will benefit my class greatly.Thank you for your support.
