My Project
"Ms. Bailey, I am almost done with my notebook. I need a new one soon."
In my class, writing is an art, important, a passion, and gives opportunities.
I know when I hear this from students, this means that it is time to restock on supplies as some of my students have a hard time procuring materials.
This year, my students have used their old notebooks to write personal narratives, an argumentative essay, and a compare & contrast essay. I want to continue this process and have students open a notebook that has a calm or funny image on the cover. I believe that how you start something is how you finish, and I want to give them a writing opportunity that they have never had before.
As a teacher, it is very important to me to show students that writing does not have to look one way and does not have to be redundant. One of the ways that I am doing this is by creating a space that allows writing to be like journaling. I am also showing students that writing is not an event, but a -- process.
