My Students
Do you remember gathering on a carpet with your teacher in school to read and discuss many interesting things? I do! Unfortunately, in my science lab I do not have a comfortable place to gather my students for such engaging conversations.
I work with 500+ amazing students from kindergarten through eighth grade at my school each week during their science lab time.
My students are eager to engage in science and to learn and explore the world around us. Their enthusiasm keeps me excited about teaching and learning. I strive to create meaningful lessons that will challenge my students' thinking.
My Project
As part of my curriculum, I want to introduce my students to the topics we are studying through reading texts with them. For the primary grade classrooms, it is difficult to read books with the students because I do not have a gathering place for the students to sit comfortably. Who wants to sit on a cold tile floor, especially during winter? If we are able to have a rug to gather on during class, the students will have a comfortable place to sit so that they can focus on the lesson and not on how cold the floor is!
Having a rug to sit on may seem like an unimportant thing, but it really helps to create and support the learning environment in a classroom.
