Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At my Title I school, students come from a variety of backgrounds. They frequently tell me that they enjoy science class the most, because they are exposed to seeing, feeling, and creating new things. Each school year, I have the pleasure of teaching two classes of honors 8th grade students who are taking the Regents Earth Science course at an accelerated time, before they step foot into high school. This group of students is extremely self-motivated, driven, and interested in the sciences. Many of these students attend science specialized high schools after graduation.

My Project
My science classroom is on the fourth floor of an un-airconditioned urban building with limited ventilation.
Especially due to the hands-on nature of our lessons, students frequently complain of lightheadedness and fatigue as the temperatures rise in the spring.
While I have been able to supply a couple small fans to assist with this problem, larger and more powerful fans are beyond my budget.
Please help my students feel comfortable and cool so that they can think clearly and remain engaged in our activities throughout the entire year. It will be greatly appreciated and I am looking forward to seeing their focus shift from the heat to their work. I truly believe that these fans will make a difference! Thank you in advance!!
