Everyday my students are looking information up on the computer or typing up essays that they wrote. As a teacher I am non-stop printing worksheets, tests, activities, etc. We are a bustling classroom with lots of work to do. We need a printer to keep things running smoothly in the classroom.
I teach in Brooklyn.
My students are 5th graders with emotional and behavioral issues. Many of them struggle academically but despite their struggles, they are always busy working and always trying their best. Unfortunately our school is in need of supplies to help with the day to day activities. Supplies like printers, papers and ink are scarce but so very necessary.
My Project
Having a high quality printer in the classroom will make it easy for the kids to print out their essays that they work so hard on. Unfortunately student work is often left written by hand because of the inconvenience of not having a printer in the classroom. I want them to be able to independently type out their work at the computer station and learn how to print it out and have a nice published piece of writing they can be proud of. The printer will also help me when I need to print out their weekly homework and other worksheets the students need. Also, being a special education teacher means lots of paperwork and IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) to work on and print out. It makes my job very difficult when I don't have a printer in the classroom.
We live in a technology driven world and so I feel every classroom should be equipped with the basic technology.
Having a printer in the classroom will allow me to teach them how to independently print out the things that they need, whether it's information for a project or their final draft of an essay or report. It will also help me with my day to day tasks. Anything that makes things a little easier for a teacher has a profound impact on the students.
