My students need math games like Making Cents, Zap! and Zoom! as well as tools like fraction tiles to use during our daily math block.

My Students

My new third grade students attend an inner city charter school. The school is small and feels like a family. We are going through many changes and working hard to meet our goals.

The third grade students are kind, willing to learn, and open to change.

They want to soak up knowledge and new experiences. By the time they walk into school, they have overcome the struggles of poverty, broken homes, and homelessness. Our charter school strives to meet all needs of our learners. We are a small school with big futures.

My Project

We need math games to use during our Math Daily 3 rounds. These math games and tools will help us grasp new concepts like fractions. We will improve our computation and thinking skills.

Playing a game or using math tools like dice or fraction tiles will not only make the learning fun, but also increase our muscle memory.

Math is often a dreaded subject and by having fun activities like card games or board games to practice skills will eliminate some of that negative thinking. Working with a friend to practice skills like equivalent fractions will be much easier to do with new math tools.
