Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a bilingual third grade.

My students are inquisitive, science-loving students, who love to learn.

They are into learning about technology, animals, and the natural world. By having resources that are available in Spanish and in English, my students can continue to hone their academic skills in Spanish which they will then transfer to their English language development.

Having taught students through distance learning for three weeks now, I know that they are anxious to do more writing and drawing with me. My students are used to having a notebook in front of them most of the day to write down their ideas, and having me model it on the whiteboard.

My Project

When we eventually return to school, many students will have a hard time transitioning back to school routines. Whether we're teaching in a physical classroom, or in a digital one, students will be more engaged if we teach things which are of interest to them. Using Circuit Playground will be a great way to teach the kids about engineering and coding while keeping them engaged and ready to learn.

By having kits which I can use to demonstrate, and eventually share with the children, I can help students learn about how to code these circuit boards in an integrated STEM unit.
