My Students

The students I have the privilege of working with are from culturally diverse backgrounds. Many of my students face challenges outside of school and do not always have the opportunity to learn about the world around them and current events. They are a fabulous and caring group of future leaders.

Our school is located in an urban area and we receive Title I funding.

As a teacher, I create an inviting, comfortable atmosphere within our walls, and want my students to feel confident to have opinions and to appreciate other's view points. I teach them to take chances and not be afraid to speak their mind. We practice point of view discussions by participating in Socratic seminars, where all voices are heard and listened to.

The students I serve see the world from different perspectives. Therefore, we use Project Based Learning lessons. The students love it and are challenged every day. They work in groups a lot of the time which enables them to solve problems, look at things from another point of view, and practice communication skills. I am guiding them to become lifelong learners.

My Project

These games and activities will foster critical thinking skills for my students. I've chosen games and activities that can be completed individually or with team mates. This allows students to have choices which helps develop 21st century skills.

These activities teach students to plan, think, and persevere to accomplish their goals.

My students love to create and participate in hands-on activities. The STEM activities I'd like for my students let them create a maze with certain parameters and another one lets them discover how circuits work. The games will help my students learn from their mistakes and try new ways to solve problems while having fun.
