Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

During this current school year, I am teaching in a Resource Classroom grades TK-5. In this classroom, the wide variety of students' needs differs from each other due to age and disability. The students who receive academic support in a resource classroom have Individualized Education Programs (IEP's), but they are currently enrolled in a general education classroom. They are predominately Latinx, low-income, and 100% of my students qualify for the Federal Free Lunch program. In the Resource Classroom, students are given direct, specialized instruction and academic remediation and assistance with homework and related assignments as individuals or in groups.

My Project

My students are very delightful, enthusiastic, and full of energy! They love to come to the Resource classroom and receive more individualized attention. Having a modern and a brand new desktop will allow them to use some educational games and reinforce their foundational skills. Recently, our district has made some educational programs available for all students.

I would love to take advantage of these resources and have my students spend some time 'playing to learn'.

Also for some students, access to technology can be motivating and can help them focus while learning a new skill.
