This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It can be difficult for some students to realize how many STEAM ideas are practiced on a daily basis given how abstract many of the ideas typically are. These materials provide a natural gateway through play that allow students to conceptualize how we interact with ideas ranging Magnetic Principles to Newtonian Physics on a daily basis. Additionally, as students begin to transition to abstract mathematical principles within third grade, manipulatives like these provide a concrete visualization that allow them to better understand the ideas. The materials will not only support their comprehension, but will encourage them to take a greater interest in STEAM related fields.

My students are naturally inquisitive, and it comes as no surprise that they take great interest in discovering and later creating their own STEAM projects using ideas we've discussed in class.

My goal with this project is to demonstrate how capable students are by providing the necessary materials that can make a difference in their overall understanding of Mathematics and Science. In turn, this will encourage them to delve further into the realm of math and science and create a love for STEAM, supporting our future leaders within the respective field. With your help, we can ensure students not only gain confidence in their understanding, but foster a love of learning within our classroom.
