This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This is one of my favorite projects in my Government & Economics class. As part of the "Playing the Economy: Board Game Project," students will research how the American government and economic system have created an unequal system and turn their research into a board game. Students will transform blank boards into a colorful commentary. The objectives are to: 1) Comment on the unfair advantages of a capitalist system, which supports those at the top and creates a barrier for everyone else. 2) Create game pieces representing groups of people, identifying unfair advantages, challenges, and economic conditions. 3) Strategizes how “players” involved can either try to overcome the barriers created by the system or “play the system” as it is.

While the boards are currently blank, the Posca markers are a student favorite that helps to beautify their ideas.

A printer would help me quickly print amazing game pieces and research information that they can cut and paste into their games. These items give them the hands-on design tools that captivate their attention.

Fund and play: You are certainly invited to play these games near the end of May! My students would love to host you and show off their knowledge and game style.
