Help me give my students pétanque sets. Pétanque is a French game played with metal balls. In France, you can see games going in every town. It is a part of French culture students can enjoy themselves.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Students in kindergarten through 8th grade study a language at at Murray Language Academy. In my French classroom, I teach not only the French language, but also the culture of France and other French-speaking countries. Very often, it can be difficult to experience aspects of French or francophone life authentically.
Teaching students the traditional French game of pétanque will bring a little bit of that culture to us.
It's a way to bring the the French way of life to our school, and for students to get hands-on experience participating in an activity that is played throughout the country of France. These are the types of experiences that the students remember, and motivate them to learn more.
