Playing on a Leveled Field Is All Fun Games!

Help me give my students who are in an inclusive 6th grade class some fun activities (Grab Play Reading and Math Games) to catch up to their average learner classmates. Most of these scholars at at a K-3 level in math and reading.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

6th graders who read at a kindergarten level. 6th graders who can’t tell you 2 + 2 without using their fingers. 6th graders with special needs in an inclusive classroom. 6th graders in an underserved community who don’t have the same access. That is who this helps.

This will engage and lift up those who struggle most.

My students work along side average learners and it is my job to bring them up to grade level while meeting their needs. Why not make it fun too?

As an education specialist and RSP, I push into classes taught by other teachers to provide services to the students with IEPs. I also teach an intervention class to these students. However, I work out of another teachers room and only have one cabinet to store things, so I don’t usually have enough stimulation or access to things a teacher would have in their own space. The games I have chosen are perfect for the nomadic makeup of my classroom ecosystem. These kids, some of whom cannot read more than two letter words have to compete in a classroom where most every other student is at grade level and they can often feel overwhelmed and sometimes resistant to formal instruction m. This project will give these young scholars the outlet to learn but also have fun and they certainly deserve it.
