Playing Music Creates a Calm and Peaceful Classroom

My Students

My students are eager, bright, and, like all students, excited to experience all the learning that this 21st century can bring them. They love art each week. They walk into our art classroom with huge smiles and open hearts, always ready to explore the arts.

Curious, creative, artistic, and ready to explore art across the curriculum---this describes my student population. I teach art education to over 485 students per week. I teach all the students in our predominantly neighborhood school.

As an educator, I am always on a quest to teach my students skills that will help them both in school and in life beyond. We love discovering innovative ways to connect art to other subjects and to create a safe and caring environment in our classroom for all students. Science, technology, math, social studies, engineering, language arts, and literacy, yes, art can connect with them all!

My Project

My art students love to listen to music while they create art and we are so excited to get some new record albums. Music playing can be so soothing and helps to create a calm atmosphere within our space. My students would love to hear a variety of different genres of music. These record albums, will bring such peace and joy to the classroom, guiding their artistic intentions. The record albums will provide music that will help with their overall well being, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety. I love listening to music, all kinds, when I create, and I know my students will feel emotionally connected to it as well. Studies have shown that listening to music leads to positive changes in mood, as well as increased creativity. So important in today's climate.
