This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you ever see a movie of a book you have read? Bringing the characters to life adds a whole new dimension to what you have read. With your help my children will be able to bring their books to life giving their books a new dimension.
I am a kindergarten teacher in a New York Public School.
We are a high needs/low income population. My class is 22 children who are English Language Learners or former English Language Learners who are working very hard to learn the language. For many of my students this is their first time in a school.
My Project
My students need 7 storytelling kits and and the gloves and boards to help them better understand their books. With your kind donation my students will receive puppets and story book pieces that go long with books that they love. The story "toys" will help my students (especially the visual and tactile learns) to build comprehension and understanding of what is happening in their story. The "toys" will also assist my students in learning how to sequence events by being able to put the pieces in order and retell what happened in their book.
