I am a kindergarten-through-fifth-grade music teacher in Brooklyn. I am always looking for new ways to engage and excite my students about music, as well as to creatively teach them about more and more musical concepts. I would love to introduce my students to the Musicplay curriculum. Musicplay uses games to teach musical concepts in unique and stimulating ways. It is filled with music that is diverse in style and cultures. It also supports other subjects such as math, science, social studies, and literacy as the music in the curriculum addresses and applies all these topics to music. This interactive curriculum provides opportunities for students to sing, move, and play instruments to wonderful music. As a supplement to Musicplay, there are "Listening Resource Kits," which introduce students to important works of music in many styles. This resource not only gives students the opportunity to listen to many styles of music, but also provides worksheets, interactive charts, notes, biographies of composers, and many other useful tools for learning about music history and music theory. The Musicplay curriculum would give my students many amazing opportunities to experience music in new ways. It would be used in my classroom to help students for years to come. I am initially asking for the curriculum for kindergarten and third grade, as I hope to build a set for all the grades little by little. Thank you very much for your consideration.
