Playground Equipment that Provides Essential Movement for Focus

Help me give my students playground equipment to support their learning. The spinning chairs, see-saw and play wall would provide essential movements my students need to succeed!

My Project

My students are truly the best. They come to school everyday ready and excited to learn. The school is their safe place. A quarter of my students have IEPs. My project is to improve the existing playground by installing some new playground equipment that can be used to support neurodiverse and neurotypical learners.

The playground equipment that is being requested would be installed at a primary leveled elementary school that was built in the 1950s.

Within the school, there are a variety of neurodiverse learners that need the vestibular motion to help calm their bodies. By using the "whirl and twirl spinner" chair and the "freestanding cozy pod spinner" the students will have a choice in the type of spinning motion that best supports them. They'd be able to take breaks outside and then go back to class and learn. Next the "see-saw" would be used to provide an activity that allows students to work and play together. Finally, the learning wall would provide playground equipment that all students, despite physical impairment would be able to enjoy while being outside. Being outside is so important for students health and well being. This playground equipment would help all of our students love being outside and then getting them ready to learn.
