Playful Arts- Sculpture, Art Journaling, Painting & Puppetry

Help me give my students materials that we either need or run out of in the classroom. This can vary in materials like hot glue gun sticks, which we use in all of my Sculpture and Puppetry classes.

My Project

Students in my classes use a wide variety of materials to create both 2D and 3D artworks. Due to the nature of creation, it requires lots of different kinds of supplies!

Art, at the end of the day, requires supplies to do so- by giving them a wide range of materials it opens up new possibilities for creativity.

Students are inspired by each other in the open studio space; with their resourcefulness, compassion and desire to learn from each other.

We use a variety of supplies in my 3D classes like Sculpture & Puppetry. Students are taught to build up sculptures using two materials newspapers and masking tape; while we get newspapers donated we often run out of masking tape quickly. Students build a variety of sculptures and puppets in my classes from small to large using this method. We also learn how to Tape Cast sculptures by using clear packing tape. In Puppetry students are given creative freedom to the supplies in the space; they love felt, pompoms and pipe cleaners to create their puppets. These are the supplies they often run to grab as soon as they are available. One of my Puppetry classes; uses dowels to create puppets that are then used for the puppet show at the elementary school. We also a lot of similar things for the Inner & Child and You Class; where students pick a book each week, create an arts activity centered around that story and run the entire activity to a class of elementary students.

In the 2D arts; like Painting & Art Journaling. Painting we use canvas to create the Abstract Art painting and drop cloths for the Mural Project. In Art Journaling we use ribbon to book bind their journals and sharpies to outline their work.
