Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This upcoming year I will be teaching kindergarten! For many of them, this is the first time away from their families and in a school setting. I work in a Title I school district as well where many of these sweet angels do not have much at home. Some of these students may come from traumatic situations that can be scary for their little minds. I want them to be able to enter my classroom feeling excited about all that there is for them to enjoy and to know that it is theirs to enjoy! This is why I have chosen rainbow decorations so that it is a joyful space for them.
It is my mission to cultivate an inviting and safe space as they enter school for the very first time!
Kindergarten is all about imagination, play, and exploration, which is why I would love to have a play kitchen set! I would love to have this item so that my little ones can practice social skills with one another and be able to play and explore! Along with this, I will be creating a book nook space for them. This is a calming and cozy space for students to get excited about reading! The rug and the pillows will help to build this cozy calm space! I am excited for my future kindergarteners and I am so excited for them to grow and learn in my classroom!
