My Students

Every child deserves every chance to be able to independently manage the items in the world around them. We need a little more to help to be able to manipulate the objects in our world.

Our students are wonderful!

They are ages 3-5 years old with autism, developmental delays, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, speech impairments, and hearing impairments, as well as their typically developing peers. We also service some students that come from bilingual homes. We use a combination of play and specialized therapies to encourage cognitive and motor development and meet the diverse needs of our classroom.

My Project

We are in need of materials to help with tactile exploration and small motor skills. The ability to control your motor movements in purposeful ways is important developmentally. Varied materials will keep their interest high and as we all know, excited children "work" harder! We have requested a drill station where the students can match colors and "drill" to increase motor planning and cognitive skills. We have requested bead pattern activities and puzzles for cognitive mapping skills and small motor skills. We will use these activities during play to increase these skills lacking in so many of our students.

The ability to maneuver objects independently is very important in the development of children.

Our students need every opportunity we can give them to continue to try to work with their peers to develop those motor skills. Please help us.
