Play Toys to Enhance our Social Skills.

Help me give my students toys to play with. The last couple of years has taken a serious toll on their social skills, and we have found that just playing helps

My Students

My students come from all sorts of backgrounds and circumstances. They are the sweetest, kindest, hard-working group of kids.

Even though my students have been raised in hard situations, they still go above and beyond to do amazing things for others.

Most of the parents in our school boundaries have to work at least one job if not more. Some of my students also come from native Spanish speaking homes and so it makes the work sent home an even harder thing to have parents try to help with after they are exhausted from working. I want to do all I can at school to give them the tools they need for success.

I am willing to try anything I can, to find ways to make their education the best that I can give them, because they set a precedent that I feel the rest of us could learn from.

My Project

We have found that the students that are in our 2nd grade this year are really struggling with their social skills. These little guys were hit pretty hard when COVID came and took away months of their kindergarten year. Not only did they lose school time, but the lock downs were detrimental to any social awareness time that they should have had during the next few months to even a year. Remote school and at home learning caused them to not learn how to socialize, share, make friends, etc.

These toys will give our students some prime social time every morning when the students come to school.

They can get the morning bins full of toys out and play with them as they are waiting for class to start. This time gives them opportunities to talk, laugh, share and play with each other.

It is absolutely necessary for their social growth that we make up for all that lost PLAY time of their younger years.
