it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
People learn better when they feel safe, loved, and comfortable in their environment. At our school, we have worked very hard to make everyone feel safe and wanted to increase attendance and academic success. We continue to make progress towards this goal with the support of donors like you! Through DonorsChoose and other donors, we have been able to fund safe & calm places throughout our campus to help students learn how to regulate their emotions. When students are calm and safe, they learn better in their classrooms!
We need your help to instill healthy social-emotional learning in our students!
Our students live in low-income areas and most do not have the funds to acquire fun games to experience healthy social interactions. So, we would like to offer our students jumbo-size outdoor games they can use to play with their friends during their lunchtime. Our students work hard every day to improve their grades and deserve a healthy mental break to continue being successful.
Some of the items listed on this DonorsChoose project include giant Jenga, basketball hoops, bowling pins, etc. We need an abundance of these games in order to be able to offer this opportunity to as many students as possible on our campus. Our students have lunch anywhere between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. We want to make these lunch breaks as fun as we can for students so that when they return to their classrooms, they are energized and ready to keep on learning.
