This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my school come from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. It is beautiful to see such a diverse student population! We are very fortunate to be in our fourth year of offering music to every single student at our school - which, in many places, is unheard of! We are so grateful to have music in our lives. General music is offered to all students in grades TK-4, and Instrumental music to all students in grades 5-6 every week as part of the core curriculum. Additionally, we have a Musical Theatre program made up of 4th-6th graders and a Modern Band made up of 5th-6th graders.
My Project
My students need instant feedback on their singing and instrument playing. The more times they can listen to themselves and provide feedback from an audience and performer perspective, the more they will progress and take ownership of their musical growth.
I want my students to see the big picture and how their individual efforts affect and enhance the entire ensemble!
With the Zoom H4N Digital Multitrack Recorder, I can record using up to 4 channels which will allow a more accurate playback of the ensembles. With the Alesis V25 Midi Keyboard Controller, students can create recordings on GarageBand or ProTools and can also use it to input notation into Noteflight. The PreSonus Audiobox, instrument and XLR cables, and studio headphones will provide amazing recording opportunities for individual instruments and voices!
