This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My special education students come to school eager to learn every day! 100% of the students at my school receive a free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of them receive food backpacks on Fridays to provide snacks during the weekend. The majority of my kids speak English as their second language. Our school is considered a high poverty school due to the low income levels of families.
My students have a lot of obstacles to overcome, but they are determined to succeed!
I wouldn't trade my students or my school for anything else.
My Project
I want my students to have opportunities to plan, build, create and more while developing important literacy skills. These kits will be perfect for exposing students to classic fairy tales where they can discuss characters, setting and plot, study new vocabulary, learn new spelling patterns, and read familiar sight words.
After the story has been read and discussed, my students will work collaboratively with their peers to build their problem solving skills with these hands-on STEM kits.
They will work together to plan, create, and test solutions to help Rapunzel's prince scale a tower, assist the Gingerbread Man across a river, and build a basket sturdy enough for Little Red Riding Hood to carry her apples.
These durable, easy to maintain kits will last for many years, which will allow many students a chance to develop literacy skills while developing an interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
Thank you for caring about my students and their success!
