Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work as a mental health provider for children, and every day I’m inspired by the strength, humor, and creativity my students bring into our sessions. Many of them come from racially and culturally diverse backgrounds and are navigating the emotional impacts of trauma, systemic inequality, and daily stressors. I believe every child deserves a space where they can feel safe, seen, and celebrated—and that’s what I aim to provide in my therapy office.

This project asks for engaging, kid-friendly games like Jenga, Uno, Connect 4, The Game of Life, Candyland, Monopoly, Matching Games, and Tater Toss.

These aren’t just games—they are powerful therapeutic tools. While we play, students practice emotional regulation, build social skills, and begin to trust and open up. Games like The Game of Life and Monopoly also spark conversations about equity, access, and imagining bright futures. Connect 4 and Matching help younger kids build focus and express feelings through action and play.

Representation matters in healing. These games give children—especially those of color—a chance to experience joy, connection, and cultural affirmation. In a world where their voices are often overlooked, our therapy space becomes a place of empowerment. Every resource I’ve requested helps create moments where my clients can be themselves and heal through laughter, play, and meaningful connection.
