Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

New to this school year, students have built in free time in their schedules. To them, it is going to feel similar to recess in elementary school. To us, their teachers, we see it as a time in which students will be connecting with each other in a way that hasn't happened since COVID-19 - playing together.

With equipment such as kickballs, volleyballs, footballs, soccer balls, sidewalk chalk and even kites, students will find their place in this newly scheduled free time and find ways to interact with their peers.

They will learn much needed skills such as cooperation and patience and acceptance. While the students think they're just having fun, teachers are excited to reintroduce students to working together as a team, having a common goal and being part of a group.

In addition to students having 30 additional minutes in the middle of their day to run, jump, and play organized sports, this time will also allow them to refresh their minds for their afternoon academic classes.
