Play for All: Expanding Outdoor Fun and Fitness at Recess

Help me give my students sports and exercise equipment to make recess more active, inclusive, and fun for every student with the toss sets, parachute and more!

My Project

Through the Play for All project, students will learn to see the world through the eyes of others by experiencing the joy of inclusive play. With a wider variety of sports and exercise equipment, students will begin to notice which games include everyone, which ones don’t, and how to invite others in. They’ll learn to recognize different needs and preferences among their classmates and understand that not everyone plays the same way—but everyone deserves a chance to have fun.

Students will also learn to work toward alleviating suffering by identifying when others are left out, frustrated, or unsure of how to participate.

They’ll be encouraged to use empathy and leadership to include their peers, offer help, or adjust a game to make it fair and fun for all. Through discussions, modeling, and gentle guidance, students will begin to take ownership of creating a recess environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

Success in building compassion will be measured through student reflections, peer feedback, and daily observations during recess. I will look for students inviting others to play, adapting games to include more people, and showing increased awareness of how their actions affect others. Growth in compassion will show not just in what they say, but in the choices they make to ensure that every classmate feels seen, respected, and included.
