Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I’m incredibly proud of my students, who are a diverse, hardworking group with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Despite the challenges they face, they consistently demonstrate resilience, creativity, and a deep commitment to their education. They are the kind of students who thrive when given the right tools to collaborate and learn in new ways.
This project focuses on providing board games for the library that encourage teamwork, communication, and critical thinking—skills essential for academic and social success.
These games will not only enhance students’ problem-solving, strategizing, and cooperation abilities, but they will also offer a unique opportunity for students who normally wouldn't interact with each other to find common ground. Many students who are shy or reserved have already started building connections over shared gameplay, creating friendships that might not have happened otherwise. The library has become a space where students can engage with each other, share ideas, and practice social skills in a relaxed, fun environment.
Our goal is for these games to continue helping students break down barriers, build stronger relationships, and develop essential skills that will support them both in and outside the classroom. By creating a space where they can connect, communicate, and learn through play, we are fostering a sense of community that is vital to their overall development.
What makes my students special is their drive to succeed, their unique perspectives, and their ability to embrace new opportunities with open minds. With the right resources, they can flourish in a collaborative and supportive learning environment, and this project will provide them with just that.
