Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach two sessions of integrated preschool classes. My students are ages 3-5 with a variety of strengths, interests, and needs. Currently, 10 of my 19 students receive special education services. Open enrollment allows students to join our classroom throughout the year once they've reached 3 years of age which means my number of students will undoubtedly grow! Some of my students use an AAC device to communicate while others are able to read on a K-2nd grade level. What all of my students have in common is that they are learning to navigate the world around them through using their senses and through play.

Providing my students with a variety of rich and engaging manipulatives, toys, and materials allows them to experiment with cause and effect, use their imaginations, build vocabulary, and learn through authentic play experiences.

The items in this project will enable students to explore, question, explain, imagine, and learn through play. Creating a foundation for a love of learning for our youngest learners will start them on a positive path in their educational endeavors.
