Play And Play-Doh Learning To Sketch With 3-D Materials
My students need 30 Play-Doh sets to create 3-D sketches for their artwork.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Sudduth's classroom raised $174
This project is fully funded
My Students
Hands on! Many of us understand how overwhelming it can be to draw for the first time. Incorporating Play-Doh into our classroom will ease the "I can't" attitude by allowing students to create the scene out of 3-D reusable material and then transfer their idea to paper.
My students range in age from Kindergarten to Sixth grade.
They attend a Title One Striving School in the south. My students are hands on and visual learners who thrive on physical interaction with art materials. We are focusing on creating as many interactive problem solving opportunities for our students so they can carry their skills into adulthood.
My Project
The request for Play-Doh is so students can create 3-D sketches for their artwork. Think about how challenging it is to take multiple images and create a new work of art. It can be an overwhelming task at any age. With the aid of Play-Doh students will create the scene, animal, person, anything they wish to draw in a 3-D form first. For example, instead of just copying an image of an animal students will create the animal themselves reviewing the different shapes which comprise objects in the world around us. Students will practice incorporating detail into their work and drawing from life.
Making 3-D sketches is another way for students to interpret visual information around them.
The temporary sculptures which students make will allow them to edit their ideas, add detail, study the effects of light on an object, and most importantly provide a fun interactive activity.
