Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Children in the Expanded Transitional Kindergarten (ETK) program are an enthusiastic group. For many students, this is their first time attending school. In previous years when I have taught this age group, I observed that students enjoyed all aspects of the day and had such a joyous and positive attitude towards school.
My Project
In Pre-School play is a vital part of the daily program. Studies have shown that children learn through play and is not only fun but necessary to build academic and social skills. Through exploration and play children learn problem solving and analytical skills, develop language as they interact with their peers, and develop important social-emotional learning skills. Play also helps develop gross motor skills and encourages movement and physical activity.
Since this Pre-School program requires that the children spend part of their learning time outside, the children need the appropriate materials to encourage play and physical activity.
These play materials will make their outdoor playtime both helpful and fun!
