Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are pre-kindergarten through fifth graders who are full of energy. They visit the library once per week for a scheduled special. In addition, teachers send students to the library to complete a task or come for a full class activity. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They love reading diverse books, participating in makerspace activities and STEM challenges, and are very curious. There are over 1,400 students in our school! I have a large population of English language learners, many of whom are new to the country. They are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. My students are both general and special education students. They are all amazing kids!

One kid can make a difference, but when kids work together, the impact can be even greater.

Last year my amazing students participated in community service projects for World Kindness Day. They expressed interest in conducting more community service projects. After just learning about Earth Day, they were inspired by a book they were reading that said planting can help the planet. They asked if we could get the materials needed to plant. They are requesting planting kits, dirt pods, seeds, utensils, and paper towels to complete the project. They are so excited to help the planet, the biggest community they are a part of!
