This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am planning a CORI unit that strives to spark students natural curiosity in science and encourage them to read to learn.

My students attend a Title I school and live in various degrees of poverty.

They are mainly working on learning to read, and I would like to get them to read to learn. They struggle with behavior and all academic areas. I want to implement a science unit that will make them want to learn.

My Project

They will use the materials for a 6 week science unit. I hope they will be so motivated by the science unit, they will continue to read the books even after we have moved on to another subject. I am looking for nonfiction, highly motivating books for them.

My project will make a difference because it will engage students and encourage them to read to learn and not just learn to read.

I want them motivated to learn more and read more in their daily lives.
